Created for the 2008 Cabin Branch Quilters and Stone House Quilters Challenge, "Quilts of Good Fortune." Fortune: Zimba, Zamba, Zoomba Each quilter was to select a fabric fortune cookie with a quilt related fortune inside. The resulting fortune was to be interpreted as a three layered quilt measuring 18" x 24". In creating fortunes for this challenge, I relied on ideas that could be readily interpreted in traditional forms with a few ringers thrown in: "What would you do knowing you could not fail?" and "Zimba, Zamba, Zoomba". Guess which one I drew? The words, "Zimba, Zamba, Zoomba" were in the Sahalie catalogue, and had a wonderful playful and lilting feeling that seemed open to interpretation. With no specific meaning to the fortune I felt free to explore a variety of techniques. 2008 18” x 24”
