Ergonomic work spaces (computer, sewing, ironing and quilting) and proper body mechanics are the keys to quilting longevity. 1 hour Participants will learn how to set up a personalized ergonomic work space (computer, sewing, ironing and quilting). Proper body mechanics will discussed and practiced. 3 hours Learn Jinny Beyer’s techniques for developing a stunning color scheme for multi-fabric quilts or for use in home decorating. Supply List 3 hours A variety of techniques will have participants unlocking their own creative potential. The creative process, design concepts and different techniques for creating original blocks will be explored using paper and pencil. 6 hours 6 hours 6 hours 6 hours. 6 hours A simple tessellated paper foundation pattern allows a study in color to take place with ease. Color shading and the basics and history of paper foundation are also covered. Supply List 3 hours In this design class, participants will take a favorite photo or postcard and learn how to use the key focal points to create an original paper foundation pattern (5 x 7 or 9 x 12) for quick and easy machine sewing. 6 hours Quilts have always told the stories of people's lives either through fabric or design choices. Included are a slide presentation tracing the history, meanings and unique qualities of this style. Contemporary Hawaiian music plays in the background while participants create their own original Hawaiian design. Three options for enjoying Hawaii: Lecture - Trunk Show 1 hour With the silent eloquence of the written word, much beauty is recorded. Learn beautiful penmanship and designs while creating labels for your quilts. 3 hours 3 hours Master the secrets of drafting a Mariner’s Compass with a life preserver and then learn how to create your own paper foundation pattern and, from it, begin constructing your compass. Supply List 3 hours 6 hours No templates at all - just accurate rotary cutting gives you eight different and beautiful spinning stars for your quilt. One specific area of a large print fabric or a border print is used repeatedly to create your design. Different sized stars (6", 8", 10" and 12") can be made with this original pattern so that your fabric may be featured in the best fashion. Surprise abounds when you see what is in the stars. Supply List 6 hours Participants learn how to use value and color to create subtle gradations found in the Impressionist paintings. Paper and pencil exercises are followed by actual fabric placement and sewing. Supply List 6 hours
